Waiting with bated breath. Thanks FatherlessChild. I think I'll have to attend all of mine, but would love to know in advance for a change.

TTATT Billboards?
by Emery inhas anyone ever thought about paying for a billboard close to either an assembly hall or a kingdom hall during memorial season?
for instance i would probably pay for a billboard for a week or 2 displaying jwfacts.com on the highway or a nearby road that witnesses travel on heavily.
has anyone ever tried something like this?.

I would donate towards this? Could the Watchtower sue anyone though?

Tears
by LouBelle ini was checking some old threads and messages and came across people's messages and threads that have passed on ((dansk)) ((oompa)) two guys that i liked and shared some laughs / thoughts / hopes / encouraging words with.
pulled at my heart strings.. you're still remembered.

Reading about Oompa is one of the threads that convinced me I had been misled about what type of people apostates were. I saw the compassion all of you were showing and was motivated to reach out to anyone disfellowshipped people I know, just to let them know I personally won't shun them.

My first post...Facebook discussion
by mzmmom ini have been visiting this site for almost a year, and i have found it very useful.
there was a post on a facebook group last night about jw visits and to be nice when they call at your door.
so, after about 100 posts, i posted a link to this website.

Welcome! I've been trying to think of comments, quotes or discreet questions I can use on my Facebook as I have a decent amount of JW's from different states on there. Kudos for trying to help "worldlings". I've despised that idiotic term for so long! They've treated me better than any in the hall.

Are the Witnesses Really Losing Their Young People?
by What Now? inthat article about jehovah's witnesses having the lowest retention rate for born ins keeps popping up every now again ... i'm just curious if any of you have noticed that this is actually the case.
in the congregation that i grew up in, i'm going to say that 95% of the young people in their teens to mid twenties are either regular pioneering, regular auxiliary pioneering, serving in foreign language congregations or where the need is greater.
both of my younger sisters are regular pioneers - and the young people in their hall even organize 8 pm to midnight service on friday nights of their own accord.

My teen told me last week she stopped believing this was "the truth" a year ago. She also asked me if I had ever heard of cognitive dissonance a few weeks ago. If she only knew what I've spent the last four months researching. Lol. Part of the reason I didn't think she was taking to "the truth" is that we don't have anyone her age group in our hall. There are a couple in other halls, but I can honestly see why she isn't interested in hanging out with them. They are really slow for their age and fully indoctrinated. I've been pretty laid back with her since middle school, encouraging sports, making sure college is focused on etc. She's allowed to go to high school dances - they are strictly chaperoned - so then again, maybe we've been on the fringe anyway. Last year, I did see a new single mom of three start studying and six months later get baptized. They've been completely love bombed in our hall, so maybe for them this is a step up. I guess every hall is different.

True. "Two Towns In Provence" and "Live Your Dash" are also calling me. I've always loved reading, just on an information quest right now. I'm studying to take an exam, but that is some dry reading.

Do you have an arrest record ? Ever been arrested?
by Glander infortunately, i don't have an arrest record.. but i was arrested one day walking through a parking lot when a young woman was struggling to exit her low-slung sports car with no knickers on..

No and no. Helped to add to my exhusband's when I called the cops for domestic violence when we first married.
nonjwpouse - Do you have support? These guys rarely change. Typically, the violence only escalates. The average woman leaves 7-9 times before she dies at their hands or successfully leaves. This is an issue close to my heart - please pm me if you want to talk.

The Alchemist. Recently finished "A Gypsy Boy" and "A Stolen Life". Both heart wrenching tales of the loss of innocence of children and sickening abuse. Both true and each author seems to have moved on and made peace, to the extent that they can, with their past.
Next on the list are "Animal Farm" and "Cobatting Cult Mind Control".
